Gutterzombies on the big screen!

Postby Reber » Fri Mar 03, 2006 5:06 pm

So I haven't mentioned anything in order not to jinx it being cut, but several of us zombies did "covers" for the movie "UltraViolet". I got to see it today and I really feel the intro was the best part of the movie hehe. All the covers are used for the title sequence. I'm not sure who all did something cause I think it was around 20 artists that did get credited (while I know inkers and colorists did not). For certain I saw Randy Green's and Tony Harris's pinups. I colored the Ed McGuinness piece which was also inked by Dexter Vines. I believe Randy's is the first one. You can't miss Tony's cause it's a spread. Dex's and mine shows up with the executive producer credits. I'd post it but I don't know if that'd be cool or not.

I colored Randy's.

How was the rest of the movie?

Very visual. Lots of neat comic book type sequences with cool poses. Not much of a story to be found amongst the techno music. It felt like watching a really long video game sequence.

Delicious colors, Brian. I live the chalky feel of the brush you used for the highlights.
Trish Mulvihill better have done a cover! She's the Milla Jovovich lookalike 'round here: Image

Yeah, the opening credit sequence was the best part. All the covers looked fantastic.

I have been needing to rant about this movie since Saturday night. Sorry if I go a little over-board!

The movie was a complete waste IMO. I haven't been that disgusted with a film in quite a while... And I even went in with somewhat low expectations after seeing the "white suit" fight scene on the tv spots(super cheese). Wow, that movie was pathetic... If you need to go, save some money and see a matinee :p

They could probably salvage it for a DVD release if they do an entirely new cut of the film. The editing was terrible with way too many "hero" shots. Reminded me a bit of Transporter 2 in that regard.

C'mon... it wasn't THAT bad! It was a fun "comic-booky" movie with tons of cool fight scenes and CGI sets. Think "Sky Captain" meets "Equilbrium," with the overall quality being somewhere between the two films.

It ain't Shakespere, but if you enjoy any of the Asian sci-fi action films of the past several years (like "So Close" or "Returner"), you'll see a lot of similarities in this film. It's a fun way to waste 90 minutes and there are worse ways to spend it than watching Milla in skintight leather going Billy Jack on a few hundred soldiers. :)

Hey Randy how about you (or Mr. Firchow) putting up yours so we can all check it out too.

Especially since I probably won't get to see it till the movie comes out on DVD
