Chuckry's sketches & WIP's

Well, I've been a little too busy to scan and post most of the stuff from my sketchbook. Now that school is winding down I should be able to catch up. I'll start with this "Indy" commission, I did as a favor to a student at my wife's school. It's a simple piece, done in pencil & pencil crayon on tinted paper. Hopefully he likes it. Didn't quite nail the likeness, but it's close enough, for free. I should do more of these--it was a good academic exercise.

cheers!

Thanks Dave! It's a little harder doing a likeness with traditional media too. :(

I dug up an old likeness I did about 14 years ago. You might recognize this guy. I forget what it was for--t-shirt, poster CD?

Another recent traditional media piece. I used marker, pencil crayon and chalk pastel. I started out kind of cartoony then kept noodling away until I decided to stop. I'm giving it to one of my boys, even though he'd prefer a Nosferatu. I'm sure he will be thrilled.

Some recently scanned stuff from a couple of sketchbooks. The two figures & the wolves are from my small moleskine (almost finished the book, just one empty page left!), the "Po Nudo" is a quick in front of the tv sketch with ref. from one of the SW encyclopedia books that was lying around. Po was done in a larger 9"x12" sketchbook. Think I'm going to add color to these at some point, and maybe work the first two up into more finished illustrations.

Thanks for lookin'!

Thanks Mike! I hope to do more traditional painting soon. I've been cleaning up my bigger studio for that very purpose! Meanwhile, I've been attending cool drink & draw events like "Drawn & Plastered." It's a new local event that looks promising so far--monthly events with distinct themes. The first one was Victorian Asylum. Nice models & costumes. It ran kinda late (midnight), so it was a bit tricky to get some good looking sketches done after a few beer. Think I might paint some of these up at a later date.

Thanks for stopping by.

Since he asked for one--and was nice enough to wait for ever (almost!)--this sketchcard is on it's way to Michael E W! Hope you like!

It's a mixed media piece, with some marker, watercolor, colored pencil & white pastel.

Some recent traditional media stuff. Photos not scans. Mixed media--markers, colored pencil, oil pastel. The illustration of the woman is a piece I started at last month's Drawn & Plastered.

Thanks for looking!

Nice...love that yellow mask/face painting on cardboard. The flesh tone of the lady is nice two...I like the blue you worked in around her shoulder and down her arm.

Thanks MIke! I find that the traditional media work is the most fun these days--not as easy as digital though.
