IMPORTANT: Requesting access to the Pro Lounges

Postby Zombie Dave McCaig » Sun Mar 30, 2003 3:39 pm

If you are new to the site, you probably can't see the pro lounges, they're hidden. ;)

But, if you're a pro and think you should have access to the mystical Pro lounges, first read the criteria for enterance posted below.

If you pass the requirements do the following:
1:Introduce yourself. Over in the welcome thread
1:Private Message me. Hit the PM link right below this message and tell me who the heck you are and what you've done.
2:Join the pro user group of your choice. Go up to the top of the board, and click on "Usergroups" and ask for permission to join the line art, color or whatever lounge.

If I approve your credentials, I'll add you to the Usergroup, the magic door will open, and you'll be able to see the Lounge in the main menu. That's all there is to it!

The current general criteria is: published credit in a comic by one of the 5 majors, or equivelent other industry experience (ie. animation, illustration)

Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image and . . . ? I can't think of a solid #5. At one time it would have been Valiant, Malibu or CrossGen.

Who fills that spot now? IDW?

Top Cow and Wildstorm are usually acceptable.

By the figures IDW is #3 now so I'd agree with your assessment Sooner.

Yeah, well... it's my board. ;)

I've got my reasons for what I pick as acceptable credentials to get into the pro lounge and who is screened (a rotating committee does that BTW.) I know the staff of the companies that I list as ok, and I know the type of people they employ. Security is important to me, and my protocols have resulted in extremely successful security so far.

We only had one incident years ago, and the offending party was ferreted out and got slapped on the hand pretty hard because of it.

Bottom line is- if Pro Board members don't feel secure, they won't post unpublished work. if no unpublished work gets posted, there's not much point in having the Pro board.

Hello, my name is Richie Rucker and I am an Illustrator by trade. I was turned onto this site by my friend Brian Reber, one of your members. My first work in comics was Joe Philips "The Heretic" as a part of Gaijin studios Blanc Noir line published by Dark Horse in 1996. My last endeavor into corporate/industry work was with Midway Home Entertainment the video game company. I am currently penciling, inking, and coloring the mini-series "Sick Of The Living Dead" for FYI Comics. I'm interested in pursuing work as a colorist and Brian said this is a good place to start. You can view some of my work at www.bigrux.com, check it out and let me know what you think. If you have any questions shoot them my way. I look forward to being a part of your "society" you have here at Gutterzombie.

To whom it may concern:

I would like entry into the Pro Lounge.

My friend Steve Firchow gave me a glowing comment.

"Mikeal is a reliable, hardcore flatter and a genuinely decent human being."

I just want to be Color Support for any professionals that might need a flatter.

Below is my resume and e-mail

That's in the "Work fire Hire/Stuff for Sale" forum. The pro lounge is just for colourists. Or, I imagine, other people who've had published credit in recognizeable books.

It was nice of Steve to say so, and it does carry some weight, but us flatters don't rate as "pros" in this industry. Our positions are technical, not creative. Pros do the creating.
