looks pretty cool! I wouldn't mind seeing that sun, or pupil in the background pop alittle more. Are those lantern symbols graphic elements, or are they supposed to be energy.

I have no idea. They're lanterns, that's all I know, and I'd hate to see lanterns become part of the energy all the time, which is probably why I keep tying to make them graphic elements.

Who am I to judge, but they kind of jump out at you as the only un-rendered things on the page. Everything else is deserving of a  though!

I like the treatment of the lanterns as graphic elements. Otherwise they don't make any sense. My biggest crit here is the drawing itself. I sure wish pencilers gave a thought to color composition from time to time -- why you would draw two green guys overlapping like that and a big red guy in front of another red dude (himself, I'm guessing) is beyond me. :?

re: emphasis mine: They don't! Not to be a crazy fanboy on the issue, but if it takes every ounce of Green Arrow's willpower to make an arrow when wearing the ring, I don't see all these other guys just willing into existence all these replicas of the symbols on their shirts.
I agree with your other point, too, Nathan. Although sometimes it's fun to figure out how to make it work... if that makes sense. :?

Yeah, that happens sometimes.
I don't think the super big, close up on the bad guys head makes that much sense compositionally either. I could understand it if it was supposed to be another character being referenced in someway. But just the human callous superbig?

That being said, Dave you amaze me. I wish I could do some of the things you do.

Sweet. Any chance you could post a slightly larger version for us half blind old timers, Dave?

Nice! :rawk: I have some serious envy of these -- Green Lantern is probably the only character in superhero comics I still really want to work on... and you do such a nice job on it... maybe someday.

Best,
Jason.

Fantastic. Soft yet clear-cut, simple yet highly rendered. :rawk:

I don't quite understand why Ivan and Geoff chose to change the utterly bizarre original design of the Demon of the Empire of Tears tho..? That was sort of part of the original flipped-out Alan Moore appeal. :o

I'm loving this style you're using on the covers! Any chance of some sort of fractal tutorial thread? I'm busy trying to implement them in a book I'm working on but I dunno if I'm pulling them off right.

(btw: what is your monthly schedule like with all those books you're doing?? How many pages a week do you do?)
