Postby DuB » Mon Aug 18, 2003 4:48 pm

Hi all!
here are some sequentials pages we've done at grafiksismik.
They we're penciled by me, inked by P.A. Déry and colored
by Phiz & Jol.

Comment & critique are welcome

Your house colorist has a name. Use it.... that's insulting.

This is a COLORIST board for christ's sake.

Shameful. SHAMEFUL.

GZ should have a policy: post the colourist's NAME with the work, or watch it get yanked by the mods.

Who is this? Send them over here, I want to post with this fellow.

Taken care of. Thanks for posting the names DuB. Looks to me like Phiz did more work on this than your penciller.

What does that even mean?

i read it as...who colored this, send them over to GZ. he wanted to post/chat? with them.

i thought the pages were kinda cool, looks like the unnamed colorists did most of the work. i also think the figures and the backgrounds clash, and not in a good, semirealistic background/cell shaded character cool contrast sort of way.

I'm sure DuB is just trying to be humble here (Or put the blame on someone else, hehe.) since he colored parts of those pages himself over his own pencils along with JoL and Phiz. That was a pretty bad experience I think but the results are somewhat cool despite the fact too many people touched those pages.

Rico: I think you are right, the figure/bg clash is the big failure here. We thought about coloring the inking (On figures) to have a better integration over the BGs but we ran out of time and couldn't even try it.

I kindof like the background/foreground shift.

I just think the backgrounds could use a bit more depth. I think this is preventing them from reading as a solid image.

First guess on the backgrounds would have been a colored inkwash.

Mike, the technique used for BGs sorta looked like ink washes, but it was all done in photoshop, no hand painting. But yeah, Phiz started out by doing a sepia layer that looked like ink washes and then added his colors over.
