Here's something a little different from the norm...

Contour drawings of flowers...

Here's one from way back in 1995! It's a prelim for a mural I painted on a wall in East Hall at Appalachian State University. I got 8 hours credit for researching methods, creating & following protocols, and directing 4 other mural artists that semester. It stayed up for almost 10 years! Last I heard they painted over it a few years ago...

I was re-reading Planetary and came across a Cassaday splash page of Elijah Snow from issue #16. It started out as a study in folds in clothing ended up as this...

Here are a few drawings I did for my fiance. She teaches 2nd grade and they had a Eat-a-Book program this week. Where everyone brought in a book that had something to do with food (at least I think that's it!). And the teachers made food to go along with their book...I actually ate green eggs & ham for two days! :D

I did these two for her and another teacher. I sketched them out in large gestural shapes and drew them in ink. These are 11 x 17.

Unknown Hinson

Postby Big Dog » Sun Nov 18, 2007 4:00 pm

Just got back from an Unknown Hinson show, and it was AWESOME!!! I just found out about this guy today...checked out his website. He's quite the character and one helluva guitar player. Anyway, I decided to draw this:

Looking somewhat like Dracula's nasty little brother who spent some hard years drinking and working as a carnival barker for a second-rate freak show, Unknown Hinson translates that vibe to his style of country and western-tinged psychobilly.
Did this for the Newsarama Art Group. The assignment was to animate a live action TV character. Who else would you expect me to draw?! :p

I know it's been awhile, but things have been crazy as of late!

Thought I'd stop by and let everyone in on some good news! I'm getting some shirts made for my "studio" in time for convention season. Here's what they'll look like:

Image

White ink on a black 100% preshrunk cotton shirt. $10 (includes shipping in the US). If any one is interested drop me a PM here or send me an e-mail at: BigDogsStudio -at- gmail.com

Thanks! :D

I ran out of room on it before, so I reduced it in Photoshop and printed it out. Finished it up this afternoon...

An extra Devil Dinosaur entry for the week...

Image

This was the first idea that popped in my head when I started researching the character. Kirby's Devil Dinosaur is so outrageous and over the top that the first thing I think about is that it looks like the old rubber suit Godzilla from the movies. Then I actually started drawing the character and had so much fun that I thought about what he went through as he drew it. He HAD to have had fun with it, so I imagined that Jack was actually running around in a giant rubber suit as he created Devil Dinosaur! I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
