Lara Croft by Andy Park

Pencils by Andy Park, inks by I can't quite make out, hosted by and downloaded from Sean E's site.

As always, C & C appreciated. I was trying for the nighttime effect; I think I got the blue cast to everything okay, and I feel my control over light sources is improving. I have nagging doubts about saturation, though - it seems a little over coloured in places, but I think I did everything correctly. Just need a lighter hand on the pen, maybe.

Although now that I look at it, the rim highlights on her glasses don't belong... And *slaps forehead* I need to add Lara's shadow to the rock surface.

Cheers,

Mal

I like the approach you're going for with the moonlight and shadows, but at the moment it is WAY too dark. I can hardly make out her face. Lightening things up a bit would make the scene much clearer.
I'd also drop back the saturation in areas, particularly her jacket.

Yeh, i agree -- it is too dark. When it goes to the press, it will print 10-20 percent darker.

I would lighten it up more.

also, i'd get rid of theline art for the moon. or at least put a color hold on it

its quite distracting and just looks funny with that nice glow behind it :D

Way too dark? For the first time in the history of pinups, a character with the sun/moon behind him/her is actually silhouetted! !

i think its fine that its silhouetted, but perhaps you could use another lightsource coming from beneath her, just to accent and bring out a little more detail.

also, if themoon [main lightsource] is behind her, how come i dont see any respective shadowing on the rickety path thinger she's crouching on?

and i think its maybe a tad too /darksaturated [the blue that is]

i mean, i still like it though xD
just little nitpicks i guess :D

Hey, thanks all for the positive comments. I didn't know that tip about printing 10 - 20% darker; learn something new every day. Cheers for the beers, too!

Here's the repost - added her shadow, removed the flare off her glasses, and did a colour hold on the moon. I also lightened the blue cast a touch, and eased up on the darkness of Lara's colours a bit.

Once agan, thanks for the crits, folks. Keep 'em coming!

Still looks way too dark and saturated to me. Also, the color hold on the moon didn't solve the problem. Now the outline of the moon is brighter than the moon itself.
