Sketchbook Cover *UPDATED!*

Here's a pinup I colored over the weekend.
Man, I love being here on GZ, but at the same time I hate it.
I get the feeling that no matter what I do, somebody else has already done it, and better. :( Anyway, I really tried to do something new here, using a more "painterly" style for some of the characters to add texture- most notably Hellboy, and Batman's grey. For the 2 foremost characters (the elf-dude and the pig) I used a very cartoony, sharp-edged cuts style. For Abbey Chase and Wolverine, I just went with standard cut 'n grad.
I had a blast with the background, making it look like a beat-up old sketchbook cover. ( I believe that's what the pic is for, actually.)
*EDIT* OK, Dave, I updated the pic with your suggestions. Thanks again!
So here's the pinup:
ImagePencils by Jon Sommariva, inks by Jorge Rodrigo, colors by Steve Downer.
Here's some detail shots, too:

Looking good! I like the background.

some things to think about...

1) Batman's hilights are all leading to the center of the outlines of each form, rather than following the light source.

2) You have not separated batman's knee from his arm.

3) The pig dude's magic rake comes too far forward, you have not lit it from the lightsource, and the color blends too much with the unfortunately parallel form of wolverine's claws. (Artist's problem, not yours.)

Thanks for the tips and help, Dave!
I agree wih you about Batman, but on the pig-dude's rake- it was supposed to be glowing, kind of it's own light source. Was that not made clear in the colors, or was that the problem?

even glowing items need to have shadow and hilight sides, or they just look like knockouts. More importantly that rake just pops forward too much.

Not sure my version is so shit hot, but it at least puts Wolverine in front.

Any ideas?

...Weird. Are you on Windows?
Everyone with a Mac can see it, but not PC people, it seems...
I'll try to re-upload the pics.

They won't load because they're still in CMYK mode instead of RGB. Most internet browsers won't display CMYK images since they're not as web friendly as RGB.

Now if we can just get Dave to fix his so I can see it too

The image looks cool. I especially like Hellboy, DG and the pig. I do see what dave was talking about with the glowing rake though.

Done. Steven's original file was CMYK. Crapsplorer can only render RGB.

Dave, on your overpaint- what'd you to to Batman's mouth area?
It still looks like nighttime lighting, but now it looks like moonlight on skin. Mine looks like undead-corpse. I spent 45 minutes trying to fix that. What'd ya do?
