Today's entry: X is for Charles Xavier
aka Professor X, leader of the X-Men!
Image
Now, I’ve got to be completely honest. I don’t much like Professor X. He always seemed kind of sinister- like he had some ulterior motive he wouldn’t share with the team. But then, I’ve never been a huge X-Men fan in general, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

And no matter how you look at it, he’s better than X-Cutioner.

Nice work. Are you inking these in photoshop? I really like the quality of your lines.

Thanks, Ryan.
Nope, they're Pentel brush and fine-point pens on Bristol board. The wheel of Prof's chair is Photoshop ink, though.

Ah, okay. It looked analog, that's why I was wondering. I need to practice with my pentel brushes more, I haven't gotten the hang of them yet.

Thanks, Laura! I'm so glad you're enjoying the series.

Today's entry: Y is for Yankee Poodle
This one harkens all the way back to the entry for the letter C.
Yankee Poodle is a member of the Zoo Crew, the team of talking animal superheroes let by Captain Carrot.
Look at those jazz hands!

I’d love to see a Zoo Crew revival. Fun, kid-friendly comics are in short supply these day. Scott Shaw! Call me!

Well here we are, folks. We’ve reached the end of the series! Thanks for sticking with me all the way through it, from A is for Adam Strange to today's entry: Z is for Zorro!

I’ll be starting my next series, The Legion of Superheroes: from A to Z in February. Keep your eyes peeled, and have a great weekend!

Oh, hey, what have we here? Could it be? Could it possibly be? The first entry in a new sketch thread series?!

Yes indeed, your eyes do not deceive you! It’s the new Legion of Superheroes alphabet series, starting off on a truly unsettling note with Legion reject Arm-Fall-Off Boy! In his own words, “My power will astound you! Observe as I detach my limb– and transform it into a deadly weapon!”

Lord, I love the Legion. I'm stoked for 26 weeks of glorious nuttiness.

Hooray!

I miss the retro filters though. they really work for you.

Dave,
I miss the retro look too, but I'm not using them for two reasons.
First, the Legion is set in the 31st Century, so I wanted to have a clean, sleek look to the pics. I'm still trying to come up with a unique look for the series, though. I'm thinking maybe limited palette, or just one color...

And the second, big reason is that the retro/aging filters hid a lot of sloppy inking and just plain bad drawing. Rather than hide my mistakes, I'd like to use this series to actually improve my drawing skills a bit.

(You can tell I'm off to a great start, giving Arm-Fall-Off Boy two right arms. )

Haha, I hadn't even noticed that.

I like the first entry, the only thing that's bugging me is Arm-Fall-Off Boy's screen right leg. The bottom half is a little short.
