so lets see... so far I've changed the saturation of all areas, repainted the red bits twice, separated the lineart and blurred the crap outa the background explosion, changed the background colour, added the top blue-ish highlights, changed the explosion rimlights 3 times...

there's not a lot left of the original picture as I posted it! :P

Just shows how much I've lost my groove and mojo in the past couple of months. I can't colour for shit now.

Funnily enough though, this picture as it looks now is actually closer to what I originally started out with on my flats colour choices before I started mucking around with the background colour to green and trying to cool off the red on the ironman with that grey-blue stuff originally. Shows I guess if I'd pretty much left well enough alone and just coloured the damm thing I would have been closer to getting it right than by thinking too much about it... :?

version 3 -->

but that's it I think. I'm pretty much done with this now and moving on. Besides the master psd file has been tweaked and adjusted so much that its getting quite messy to do anything more to it now.

cheers and thanx to all, especially Sweeney :)

By far your best rendition. Nice plane seperation and good emphasis foreshortening the character. Also, shifting the background to blue/violet is a nice complement to all the reds and oranges of the explosion and Iron Man's armor.

Actually, chroma refers to the saturation or "purity" of a color.
