11x17 capable scanner/printers?

Postby DCJosh » Tue Mar 19, 2013 1:01 am

Hey guys!

So my scanner is dying and i've been printer-less for a little while. Trying to see if itd be worth it to get one of these big printer/scanner set ups?

quick search found me these:

http://www.officemax.com/catalog/sku.js ... 1&ssp=true
http://www.officemax.com/catalog/sku.js ... 6&ssp=true

Im not gonna jump on either just yet, but this is pretty much what im lookin for. Something cost effective to use for scanning/printing and all that stuff. Probably for my drawing. being able to print digital blue line onto my comic boards and stuff for traditional inking and all that jazz

thoughts? suggestions? maybe you have a similar kind of set up?

Wow scanners sure have gotten affordable.

My refurbished Epson GT-15000 cost me $900 about four years ago.

Yeah! I gotta admit I was pretty surprised to see these at like $200

A good bit more affordable than I thought!

I've got that Brother. It's pretty frickin' sweet. Cully Hamner and Jeremy Dale have very similar models. Good color output, great scanning.

nice!

so i ended up picking up the Epson one. Took me a little bit to get it set up right. i did some test prints and it had some banding issues. more testing and cleaning the nozzles and stuff and it printed out this huge mess of a picture. just color everywhere. i probably test printed it too quickly after cleaning. so i did some more adjusting, waiting a little bit and test printed again and man! its beautiful!
Scanner works great as well! so nice to finally have an 11x17 capable scanner. my scanner before is 5 years old and only 8.5x11 capable so i always had to stitch stuff together in photoshop :P

was always too lazy to upgrade but a recent project ive started motivated me to get goin. And im glad i did!

ARG.. those are freakin awesome.
I have a Mustek A3 and an Epson 1400 photo.. I would love to have all that desk space back.... and each of them separately cost about as much as either of those all in ones when I bought them.

I've been looking for one of these as well. I know Francis Manapul over at RAID studio uses the Canon Pro 9500 but I don't think it's a scanner. Just a printer. I need something that'll do both at at least 13" x 19".
