The Purkinje effect (sometimes called the Purkinje shift, or dark adaptation and named after the Czech anatomist Jan Evangelista Purkyně) is the tendency for the peak luminance sensitivity of the human eye to shift toward the blue end of the color spectrum at low illumination levels.[

Thats pretty Interesting . So this in conjunction with The Kruithof curve makes me wonder: Is Blue really the dominant wavelength in the spectrum or is it just the structure of our eyes that make it that way?

The shift in sensitivity isn't that great. It's from yellow-green to slightly bluer green.

Blue is the color we see least well (in sensitivity and contrast).

And green is what we see best, is that right? I seem to recall that being the rationale behind using green in night vision goggles: the eye can distinguish the greatest range of values in that wavelength.
