Question

Postby _Anthony » Fri Sep 09, 2011 9:58 am

I just got a new Mac (because my PC just kept having issues) and I was wondering what screen recording program do some of you Mac users use? I want to be able to record myself illustrating. Thanks.

QuickTime Player shoulda come with the Mac. Run that, and right under the File menu is New Screen Recording. I think you can choose to have your built-in mic feeding audio into it, too. It's been several months since I used it to record a tutorial for my boss...

You may already be testing it, but just in case, here :) :

(There's audio in the original, did I miss a button in YouTube? ah well...)

I was messing with this today after learning about it from this post. The only way there appears to be able to record sounds from your computer is for the mic to pic up what's coming out of the speakers. If someone knows another way please let us know.

Those tutorials I'd done months ago, I was speaking as I was demonstrating the task, and it recorded my voice via the mic. If you have music playing, it'll also pick up what's coming over the speakers -- the mic just records what it hears. I don't think there's a direct Line-In option (or internal to internal), but I haven't investigated that...

I should look into what happened between this particular original clip and YouTube, why it doesn't seem to have kept my bit of audio... hmmm
