Awww, thanks man! I'm blushing through my tiredness.

I'm making a serious effort to post regularly. Otherwise, I would only color comics and become more and more frustrated that I wasn't doing more of my own work. This thread and my blog give me some incentive.

Thanks Dave! It's not very comic-booky but I thought I'd post it anyways.

I'm liking the updates on your sketch thread too. ;)

Return of the Squid Clown

Postby chrisc » Sun Mar 23, 2008 10:40 pm

I posted the line art of this guy a little earlier. I think he's finally finished. I wanted to try a different approach to color--I tried cuts 'n grads, but that wasn't different enough. :)

Woo... That is different! I'd love to see a comic drawn/painted like this.

thanks guys!

Nick - I'd like to see a comic painted this way too. I would probably be Italian, or French though.

GROOT! - The Creature from Planet X!

Postby chrisc » Wed Mar 26, 2008 9:27 pm

Taken from the Marvel Monster Masterworks TPB. I love the old Marvel Monsters.

They killed him with termites.

A 20 minute pencil sketch, with some Photoshop love.

Groot is either very angry or very sleepy. He should have sprinkled some sevendust er something on him to avoid the horrible fate of termite attack.

Illustration Friday - Pet Peeves

Postby chrisc » Thu Mar 27, 2008 11:29 pm

This week's Illustration Friday challenge is "Pet Peeves." One of mine happens to be the squirrels, who steal the food I put out for the birds, during the winter.

The Threat of TIM BOO BA!!

Postby chrisc » Fri Mar 28, 2008 12:42 am

Okay, another Marvel monster. Tim Boo Ba! Originally drawn by Steve Ditko, and lamely represented here by moi. I was tired, and sloppy with the sketch, so I gave him a little extra love in Photoshop. Also did an old skool version with the halftone dots.

I tried, but I don't think I really captured the terrible awesomeness that is TIM BOO BA!
