I should have been coloring comics but . . .

I'll see what else I can come up with. Hopefully on a semi-regular basis.

Just finished this cover, for a young adult novel, the other day. I've included the rough that I worked from. One of these days I'm going to do a finished pencil drawing before I start painting. The title will be going over the viking ship banner at the top of the image.

I will be doing some tweaking to the final piece to polish it a little more and hopefully make it a better portfolio piece.

Hey Cris- that Hulk is fantastic!

On the book cover- a bit more contrast on the main illustration would make a huge difference I think. Maybe it's just the web settings dulling it down, though.

Cool, I like the marker/Charcoal on gray paper. I see the thumbnail for the book cover, but not the second image. I'm getting a red x.

Stephen, thanks for dropping by,and for the comment on Hulkie. I did get the same crit about contrast on the cover, so you're on the mark. also need to make the torch affected by movement/wind. It's too static right now. The things you notice/have pointed out to you after you send the job off.

Scott, hopefully you can see the cover now. I musta been zonked when I saved it as a CMYK jpg and posted it first time around. I'd like to do more traditional media stuff, but find that I'm sitting in front of a monitor more often than not these days.

thanks for stopping by.

Hm...I missed this stuff earlier.

I like all of these but especially "Squidhand Clown" Are you going to paint him?

You definately have a flair for editorial illustration.

Elves and Vikings are good too, though!

thanks Steve! Yeah, the editorial work seems to come more easily to me than other types. I have to work harder at the fantasy pieces. I definitely have trouble with heroic comic book language, when I try to draw it--coloring it is easier. A big part of the problem is finding time to do more of my own art, when coloring, and family take up most of my days.

I do plan to color the squid pro clown, at some point. I do have a bushel of kid friendly monster type images that I'm slowly moulding into something. Squiddy would fit right in.

Chric, I'm loving all of this stuff. That Hulk is sick. I've been on a Hulk kick since Leinil Yu's Hulk/Wolve, and that accursed video game where you can throw telephone poles at civilians. Anyway....real nice paintings, man!

Also, special mention to that red, monochromatic ocean storm panel. Very cool.
