Martin Strel is my hero
Martin Strel has just completed a 3,272 mile swim down the amazon, at an average of 50 miles per day!! 65 straight days of swimming in dangerous waters. Unbelievable.
Having previously done long distance marathon sports (I cycled from the mountains of Kelowna, BC to the prairies of Winnipeg, MB in 1997) I have enough understanding of what he went through to know there's no freaking way I could have done something that insane. my hat's off to you Martin Strel!

I heard a blurb about this bloke on NPR. Absolutely amazing. Especially the bit about swimming in the dark most the way.
insane! i don't think i would take a boat down the amazon, much less swim. i get me adventure from discovery channel.
